Further Development of Wood Processing in Rwanda

For the past year, the Internationaler Bund (IB), a long-standing member of the BvBBI, has been supporting a project to further develop wood processing in Rwanda. It aims at the education and training of specialists in the field of planning, production and assembly of wooden elements in house construction. In addition, there is a targeted technology transfer between German and Rwandan companies.

This is carried out through the development and implementation of standardized training modules and the use of digital media. Project partners of the IB are Rwandan vocational training institutions and associations as well as German training centers, universities and companies from the carpentry and timber construction sector.

The project is financed by the special initiative "Training and Employment" of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through sequa gGmbH's PartnerAfrika program...

Boosting the economy, technology transfer, new jobs

In its commitment to international cooperation, the IB is always committed to sustainable action. This project also addresses the topic within the framework of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, the following SDGs are addressed: Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Responsible Consumption and Production Patterns.

"The project has the potential to make an important contribution to strengthening the education system and creating jobs in Rwanda. We are therefore pleased to also implement a good contribution to the achievement of the SDGs with this new project," explains Karola Becker, IB board member.
